Home Discussions are an important part of Philosophy, as talking with family members make ideas flourish. Check each week to see what we are talking about. Note that the dates below refer to the week the homework is given rather than when it is due. This information will be seen when you download.
There is no Philosophy in Week 9 because of the Cultural Assembly and parade on Thursday morning. The Week 8 Home Discussion will be the last for the term. Thank you for your support with these at home. This makes such a difference to the ability of your child to share ideas.

'No," says Marlee," because it is another person's property and it might make them feel sad.
Even a little bit is wrong! It is still their's" |
What about if people have more than you do?
" Even if they had more than me, it's still wrong. You should ask and they might let you have it or use it,' Marlee continued. |
"No," says Samantha, " because you might get a funny feeling in your tummy. The person who lost it would be sad"
"That funny feeling is a GUILTY feeling!", the class agreed. James gave an example: " If you were saving your pocket money to buy a $50 toy and then someone took the $50 you would not be able to." |
Oppositional Drawings
Oppositional drawings help children talk about concepts. The Potoroo found that Miss Lilly was kind and generous. To help us explore what this meant, children drew pictures showing an activity that was not generous and one that was, on opposite sides of a piece of A4 paper.
CAN TOYS LIE?
We were having a discussion about "good lies' and "bad lies" , when one of our philosophers told us about her naughty, lying teddy bear! We decided to podcast our ideas for you to listen too. The children told me what they wanted to say and I typed their words up at the same time, before recording them. |
